Diagnosing on a component-by-component basis is time consuming in an industry where time is extremely valuable. JPRO covers all components on the vehicle to provide users with a holistic view of the vehicle to improve total vehicle health. Heavy Duty Diagnostic JPRO automatically detects all components on the vehicle, down to the serial number, so you don’t even have to choose which application is needed to diagnose the vehicle you are diagnosing and repairing. If you do need additional information from your OEM applications, JPRO will launch the application and/or its associated troubleshooting manuals directly.

12. How does JPRO Commercial Vehicle Diagnostics diagnose aftertreatment issues?

On one simple screen, JPRO allows you to view the overall health of the aftertreatment system. Users easily view information such as soot level, DPF lamp status, and engine derate as it relates to aftertreatment and current regen status. JPRO also provides regen zone information and explains to users why that vehicle is in a particular zone. From many screens outside of the aftertreatment section of JPRO, users will be alerted if a DPF regen is needed and/or inhibited. DPF regens can be initiated from multiple screens within JPRO.

To protect the vehicle owner’s vehicle data, log files are stored in a format that cannot be read by a simple text editor. However, log files can be played back with JPRO’s playback function to view all vehicle data as it was during the original connection.

It is different for WLAN Setting for MB SD C4 or C5 and New DOIP C4 OR C5 Plus. Here we share as follow.

For Old C4/C5

Firstly Set IP for LAN, local Area Connection


Secondly Set wireless IP


After finish, Connect MB SD C4/C5 device to PC, open C4/C5 Administrator, do settings as follow.

Open Road24h Ad-Hoc Connector for C4 Mux

Click –1– Make Road24h Ad-hoc Profile and –2– Connect to MUX via Road24h step by step.

Enter security key

Then please disconnect the c4/c5 device, but don’t turn off the power.

Choose “Selection” option on task bar


After open the administrator, can select the SD connect

WLAN setting finished.

For new Doip C4 Plus or DoIP c5 plus, WLAN is much easier.

After finish IP Setting for LAN, Open Local Area Connection on task bar, find available WIFI name of C4 or C5 Doip


Choose correct one to connect, input wifi password “123456789”, please set automatically Obtain IP.

C4/C5 DoIP Plus wireless setting Finished.

After updating my Allscanner VXdiag full firmware, I run BMW  ISTA-D 4.18.20 ISTA-P 3.66.100 software, it failed to communicate with my cars. Could you help me?

Solution:

You should do by following below four steps:

1.Download the latest VX manager

2.Connect computer to the device

3.Upgrade the firmware and DOIP firmware

4.Finally, connect to your car and test it

I just received my new Porsche PIWIS III tester and I figured I would share my thoughts since I have used both the 2 and the 3 now. I should be more precise as I did not purchase an actual PIWIS III, but remarkably they are for sale on sites like this www.autonumen.com. On that site is the actual factory tool and currently sells for $5,900 which was way too rich for my blood. It is in the factory carrying case with all the cables and WLAN cap for the VCI that plugs into the usb mini port and allows for wireless connection to the car, along with the multimeter and oscilloscope cable. What I bought, which sells for around $2,000 and what is for sale in most places, is a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1 installed and the Porsche PIWIS III software installed and includes a USB wired VCI the same one the factory tester uses. I both cases the VCI and software have been modified to disable factory authentication and naturally there is no automatic updates. If you did have a PPN account, this tool would update normally. Most offer one year of updates and then charge for subsequent years. It should be known that the updates are really for adding new model years, not software changes. On to the review.

It is a nice laptop with a touch screen and a screen pen included. The Porsche software starts automatically, but the Microsoft button functions and you can do other things at the same time such as TeamViewer or open an internet page. The VCI ( the part that connects to the diagnostic port) is smaller and the cable connecting is shorter, but it is a standard USB to miniUSB cable so you can purchase an longer one anywhere. The tester can be changed from after sales mode to developer mode which allows for a lot of special features ( looking at you who want to disable start stop permanently). The software is faster, and easier to use than the previous version. For example on the diagnostic program, the tester auto detects the car model. Just plug it in, turn the key on and it does its thing. For me, I’m not sure if it is a function of the unit I have or not but the guided fault finding works well. Click on any fault and press the fault finding button and the unit tries to provide you a diagnostic plan. The plan is better and the English description is better. I haven’t tried the wiring diagram software but I imagine it works as well as the previous version. There is a new ODBC program on the unit that reads standard ODBC codes, I am wondering if this unit can be used for other cars for simple code reading. I will try it on a buddy’s car next week and let you know. There is a oscilloscope function and a multimeter function but the laptop clones don’t come with these cables. If you check out the link I added you can see a factory tool and what that kit contains as compared to a laptop clone with VCI. All in all it is a better tool but really can’t do more than the 2 can do, only faster and on cars from model year 2018 to current which the 2 can’t do. Later I will clone the hard disk then see if I can upgrade the OS to Windows 10. I am certain it will work but cloning the SSD makes sense given my investment.

Question: Any advantages getting a piwis 3 over piwis 2 besides being able to work on newer models?
Reply:
Since the Piwis 2 is obsolete I don’t know if Porsche is supplying updates for it. The only issue I see is that the newest variants of certain modules will not be able to be programmed. I have encountered this with the 3 since a clone version does not get regular updates. All we can hope for is a update release from our supplier down the road. All of the 2’s I see have the last software that was issued a few years back so there may not be updates for it. If you buy used modules with the same version as the one you remove then this isn’t an issue. Since module replacement is an unusual thing unless you buy a flood car like me I don’t see this as an issue. The piwis 3 is faster but the tablet one might be equally fast. My particular 2 never worked well for guided fault finding and my three is better but refers to documents that only dealers have. In the end, I’m not sure I would spend the money for normal maintenance. 2018 versions and newer have no choice but to buy a piwis 3. I hope this helps.

Problem:

I have a OBDSTAR X300 PRO3 and I lost the SD card.
I have not registered it. My attempts fail due to not having access to the registration key since I can’t see the app.
I don’t have registration key since I can’t turn on device I am wondering if you guys can help me download the update so I can use the machine.
When I put the sd card in the computer it’s blank. I have a 32gb sd card that is empty. it doesn’t have data files.

Solution:

OBDSTAR X300 Pro3/x300 dp/X300 DP Plus comes with SD card in default.
If you lost the SD card, you can replace by a new SD card by yourself.
Provide your obdstar serial number (on the back of the machine) to your seller to contact OBDSTAR engineer.

Their engineer will send software file, then you can download it to the new or blank SD card.

How to perform: Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test using Caterpillar ET Software?
Purpose:
The Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test function can be used to verify the operation of the fuel rail pump solenoid. This test provides a method for determining whether or not an open circuit or short circuit is present.

-Open Menu: “Diagnostic”- “Diagnostic Test” – “Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test”

-Click on “Power All” or “Start” and wait the process until completed (Mode: powered)
-On tab “Test Results” is Not OK (*Short), indicates that the Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid is damaged/shorted.

NOTE:
-This test identifies an open circuit or a short circuit for the Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid. The test activates the solenoid while the engine is not running. A good solenoid will create an audible click when the solenoid is activated. CAT ET indicates the status of the solenoid as “OK”, “Not OK (Open)”, or “Not OK (Short)”.

Test Operation:
During the Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test, the ECM pulses 105-volt to the solenoid. The pulses are sent at the proper time and for the correct duration for a given engine load and speed. The ECM monitors the current flow through the circuit for each solenoid. If the current flow is too high or too low, the ECM activates one of the following diagnostic codes:

1779-5 Fuel Rail Pump #1 Output Current Below Normal
1779-6 Fuel Rail Pump #1 Output Current Above Normal
1780-5 Fuel Rail Pump #2 Output Current Below Normal
1780-6 Fuel Rail Pump #2 Output Current Above Normal
